An appraiser since 1977, Doug started Adams Valuation Corporation in 1981. From its beginnings in the family home, Doug built the firm into its current operation with full-time appraisers and office support with a central office in Oakbrook Terrace. Doug is a designated Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and a state licensed Certified General Appraiser in several states. Doug received his BSME from Purdue University and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. After graduating Knox College with a BA in English, Alex held an administrative position with Adams before working as a Financial Analyst within the real estate group at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago. She then became a Relocation Manager for Prudential Relocation in Scottsdale, Arizona where she oversaw corporate relocations for IBM and Unilever. After her hiatus, Alex returned to Adams Valuation in 2003 where she has been appraising all property types and interests, performing rent comparability studies, and partnering with attorneys with various litigation support. In addition to appraising Alex shares in the daily operations and management of the company with her brother John. Alex is a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, MAI Candidate for Designation, member of Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professionals (ICAP), Associate Member of the Chicago Bar Association, on track to complete the Litigation Professional Development Program and a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). With a BA in mathematics from the University of Chicago and a Masters from Northwestern University, John has combined his acumen for numbers and theory in his appraisal practice. He is a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, having entered the field in 2000. John has appraised a variety of properties but especially likes the challenging assignments: railroad rights-of-way, vacated streets, partial interests, landlocked parcels, LIHTC, and anything requiring a deep highest and best use analysis. John has done substantial work in the Chicago area and in southern Maine and also has experience appraising in Ontario, North Carolina, and Wisconsin. John is a chess player, an ultra marathoner and a foodie.
Secretary, appraiser and now Vice President and General Manager doesn’t begin to describe Margaret’s over 35-year career with Adams Valuation Corporation. Research is a passion and client-relations, that come second nature, are a pleasure that drive her day. Having raised two children who have become appraisers, she holds the belief that providing service, meeting client needs and generating a quality product are priorities. Vintage or historic properties and neighborhood history are some of her special interests.
Mike has been involved in many areas of the real estate industry for over 10 years. Developing values for challenging properties always reveals new insights into the business and Mike has long enjoyed learning about all facets of the industry. Mike’s experience includes appraisal of all types of residential, commercial and industrial properties. He is currently an Illinois licensed Associate Appraiser and Real Estate Broker. Bert is an Illinois licensed Certified Residential Appraiser who has been with Adams Valuation Corporation since 1991. Bert received his undergraduate degree in finance from Montana State University and his masters degree in financial markets from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Mike has been a staff appraiser with Adams Valuation Corporation since 1985. The first 10 years of his career in the field were focused on residential appraisal. Since 1995, he has concentrated on the commercial end of the industry and now works off and on for Adams Valuation Corporation. Kevin began his appraisal career in 1985 and has been with the firm off and on since then, venturing into environmental work for the United States Environmental Protection Agency during the Superfund evaluations in the early 1990s. Kevin has provided appraisal services for several prominent Illinois appraisal firms, as well as attorneys and individual property owners. He is an Illinois licensed Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, a member of the Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professionals (ICAP), and the International Right of Way Association (IRWA). With his broad and comprehensive experience, Kevin has applied creativity and vigor to real estate appraisal challenges on a consistent basis throughout his career.
